The clarity of the lake will astound you, the outdoor options endless, and as most folks know, it’s prime time right now. It never gets too hot here, in summer it’s just right, and the romantic rustle of the pines let you know you are in the High Sierra.

We like to swim at Kiva Beach, about 15 minutes from the Black Bear. Our two favorite kayaking spots are Emerald Bay, about an hour paddle and Sand Harbor, more of a drive but if you get there early…..fairytale….where all the promo shots of the Lake are always taken.

Then there’s the Lake Tahoe for hikers.  Desolation Wildnerness is just up the road and the Tahoe Rim Trail is a half hour away. Bike trails are ten minutes away and we like the ride to Richardson’s Bay.  Yes, we’re all about location at our cabin and you’ll appreciate being close to shopping too.
