Leaf peeper alert

tahoeColors

The aspen, willow and cottonwoods are just starting to turn their vibrant colors and the teeming crowds of summer have dwindled. Yes, it’s time to come to Tahoe to catch the magic and enjoy this special season. The water is still and clear, the Kokanee Salmon are filling the creeks and there’s plenty of room on the winding bike trails that circle the lake.

It’s particularly beautiful at Sky Meadows.  Pine needles carpet the grounds, the meadow is mowed and there’s plenty of room to play horseshoes or throw a football or frisbee. The good news: we have availability and our rates are super low.  You might even think ahead and lock in Christmas, winter wonderland time around here.

It’s one HOT summer all over California and what better place to escape the heat but Tahoe where water sports are the play of the day. From kayaking to water skiing to just plain getting in and swimming, it doesn’t get much better. Try the new see-through kayaks and test the lake’s famous clarity.

They equip each kayak with a book of flash cards that help identify invasive species, encouraging their customers to use and log anything they see. The kayaks aren’t designed for speed and maneuvering, like a typical sit-in kayak, but use is mostly meant for slower-placed, scenic touring. Their rentals start at $85 for two hours.
