Staying safe is what it’s all about his year and the ski resorts are implementing new rules that you should be aware of. Here are a few:
On mountain, our vast outdoor setting makes physical distancing easy. But in the base areas and other locations where it is more difficult to do so, there will be signage and decals to ensure guests remain six feet apart.
Guests will be required to wear face coverings in certain areas. This includes in lines, when loading and unloading chairlifts,, in indoor resort facilities, and for activities such as mountain coasters. Employees will be required to wear face coverings at all times.
Capacity of lifts will be reduced to allow for physical distancing. Guests will only be allowed on lifts with travelers in their party.
Employees may limit the number of guests in any area of the resort to ensure proper physical distancing (e.g. parking lots, indoor facilities, common spaces, etc.).
Heavenly Valley Ski Resort’s (10 minutes away from the Black Bear) message:
With our Pass Holder reservation system, you can rest assured knowing you will have the space you need when you visit our resorts this winter. The reservation system is exclusive to Pass Holders through Dec. 7 and is now live. Lock in your Priority Reservation Days and early season skiing and riding. Excitement is high, and we anticipate our reservation system will be busy during these first few days. To help you navigate our site on the busiest days, we’ve implemented an online waiting room. Don’t feel like waiting? There is no need to rush to reserve your Priority Reservation Days. We designed this exclusive month-long booking window to accommodate our Pass Holders’ requests, and we are confident that you will be able to reserve your days for the core season before lift tickets go on sale Dec. 8.
Come have fun this winter! Links to reserving our cabin are in previous posts.
Twelve inches, a nice base, a great start to winter activities at Lake Tahoe. If skiing, snowboarding, gaming, cocooning, or just getting away for a change in scenery, Black Bear Lodge Tahoe is the perfect target. We’re located in the heart of South Lake Tahoe near bike trails, ski resorts, the casinos, the magnificent lake. Cook your own meals, stay connected with our fast internet, play all day in the snow, enjoy the scenery (our back deck is on a very large private meadow).
The view, the possibilities . . . .
Reserve early. Tahoe has become a very popular destination!
This is the view from our back deck. If you keep walking you get to the Upper Truckee River that eventually joins pristine Lake Tahoe. This area is private, a perfect place where kids can play and leashed dogs can run. When winter arrives, get out your cross country skis, snowshoes, build a snowman or stay indoors by our cozy fire.
Tahoe has never been more popular now that COVID is still out of control. Make your reservations early!
With Heavenly Ski Resort and Kirkwood so close, you’ll be on the slopes in no time. Lots of snow here and the time is now to reserve before someone beats you to it. Holiday times are especially popular. You’re invited, our deck is sunny, our cabin private and quiet and roomy.

Need a place to stay close to the bike and hiking trails? Black Bear has THE location.
The willows are just starting to turn and a few windows of warm weather are revolving in and out. Some days wading the Upper Truckee is still within reach while others bring a nip to the air. Tip: be prepared for both and bring your cold weather gear.
Hiking and biking couldn’t be better. The summer crowds are gone and bike path lanes are pretty clear all the way to Kiva Beach. Hiking trails, superb. Willows turning gold.
Our cabin is super clean and ready for your stay. The decks were just painted and the deck chairs are all lined up for cocktails. So much better than a motel and the same price…. just more room and it’s way more peaceful. Here’s how to reserve your stay:
Just a few minutes away from the Lake, Black Bear Lodge has the best location for summer/fall sports enthusiasts: stand-up paddling, swimming, kayaking, waterskiing, and of course, beach picnics. Hiking and biking trails are just around the block too. The waters are abuzz with visitors. Make this experience a reality before it’s too late.
If you’re going for world-class views AND some of the best powder ever, Heavenly Valley Ski Resort is your best choice. And it’s only 10 minutes away from the Black Bear. Who could ask for anything more? No commute, no hassles, no worries, just some of the best skiing and snowboarding in years!
